Whats everyone use to shine up brass carb and serial #
plate up?

Don't know about a carb. I had a little brass clock part I wanted to clean today and soaked it in Evaporust and it did real well. Evaporust is all I had other than metal polish which would have taken a lot of elbow grease to use.

I think the best penetrating oil (even better han an acetone/trans fluid mix or Kroil) is the AC Delo penetrant available at GM dealers. One thing it'd great for is cleaning up brass and copper: let it soak for a few days and it comes out clean, shiny, and lubed up. Only thing to watch out for is using it on plastic and rubber: it will eat it up.

I hope they still sell it. The last time I bought it the guy at the counter said they were having a hard time getting it, so I ordered a whole case just in-case. Haven't had to buy more yet, and that was two years ago.

Thanks for replys, new paint so harder to clean air cleaner and carb and searial tag up.
