Coolant coming out of exhaust

My 1966 Massey Ferguson has a 4-cylinder Perkins diesel engine. It recently started spitting coolant water out of the exhaust stack. Can someone please tell me what is the probable cause and/or how to fix it. Thank you. David T.

Hello David T welcome to YT! Steve probably has the correct answer that the head gasket is likely your issue. I am just going to say that I trust you are sure that this is coolant and not wet stacking as another poster replied, that is mostly unburned fuel coming out the exhaust. I believe most Perkins also have wet sleeve engines. Coolant leaking from a sleeve problem usually leaks into the oil pan from the sealing orings at the bottom of them that seal them to the block. The other thing that can happen with sleeves is ..electrolysis.. which would eat a pin hole through the wall of the sleeve and then coolant leaks into the cylinder through it. For future posts please include the actual model..size of your tractor. No sure if you also realize that this these forums have topic sections for specific brands like Massey Ferguson. I would also suggest you post in that topic section if you have more questions on your tractor. Post back with a reply if you do not know how to get to the other topic sections and I will reply with instructions.

One of the products of combustion is water. Before chasing major expensive problems verify that your MF is being run long enough under enough load to generate enough heat to drive the moisture out.
