trying to replace the RPM cable, and the Gauge Cluster, with the tachometer drive wire, having trouble with the drive wire.. am I to cut the wire to fit ? it's about an inch to long ? or do I not have it in right , Any help will be appreciated

No, it should not need to be cut off if it came preassembled with the cable housing.

Any chance the old cable it twisted off inside the drive gear?

You could try starting the engine, see if the cable will push in further. With it in and working, you
should not be able to stop it with your fingers.

Theres a couple different wire harnesses for them I
know by experience because I got my butt kicked by
about the same thing on a 4630 one time at the
dealership . It ended up being quite the battle between
new Holland and the Owner of the tractor and the
dealership.

Did you purchase the cable (outer housing?) and drive wire (the small inner flexible cable) as an assembly (meaning one part number and the flexible cable came to you installed inside the outer housing)? Or as two completely separate pieces with separate part numbers and you are trying to put them together?

I don t understand the drive wire part
Are you talking about the short cable that goes into the drive adapter under the oil filter

If the drive cable (I think you are calling this the drive wire) was not sold installed inside the cable housing, there is a good chance it is the wrong length, especially if they came from two different sellers. Can you post links to what you purchased from Amazon, so we can see what you have?

Yes, I had to remove the oil filter (that didn't help) removed drive adapter to see down inside, to line up the drive wire to the small squire , and it's an inch to long, I got part numbers , checking with Amazon, these may not fit my 4630 Ford, This has happened before throw Amazon . Drive Wire over 4 inches long, E9nn17n275AA , Cable, 82847520 Thanks

Sorry, I was thinking of the wrong cable, not the one you are talking about. You are looking at what the online 4630 parts book calls the Shaft & cable assembly inside the Adapter assembly located on the engine, item key number 22 in this picture. The part number in the 4630 parts book is F1NN17N275AA, 107.8mm long. Destroked 450 may have more insight, or you could try posting this down below on the Ford specific forum, it might get some different eyes looking at it.
