My 430 gas tractor was over revving, surging at constant load, and slow to throttle up when load was increased.
I took the timing cover off to see what was going on, and the governor weights had started to cut into the timing cover.
Everything seems to be moving freely, and even though the gears looked dry, the oil passages were not plugged.
I have replaced the double springs on the throttle lever side of the governor actuator.
Any ideas what would cause this?
I adjusted the carb and linkage.
How much oil should you see on the timing gears?
