Do you make gaskets?

best way, hard to get gaskets for lots of this older stuff, always keep plenty of gasket paper, and plenty of cereal box sides to hammer out or cut a gasket

I like to use a gasket and a very tiny bit of silcone or aviation Permatex. Silicone is the next greatest invention since sliced bread. That being said, I've taken things apart where the previous mechanic has used a whole tube of silicone on a water pump or an oil pan and there are gobs of it hanging loose, some of which have obviously gotten loose internally. Not good! I don't like silicone on a cork gasket.

Had to make one for the exhaust side of a turbo recently. NAPA gave me a sheet of material that had a pierced aluminum sheet on one side. It was a little tedious to hammer cut it, but I won.
