Mf1655 running rough

So my mf1655 was working mint and blowing snow just fine. All of a sudden backfire and stalling.Long story short breather bolts loosened off and fell down the carb lodging in the intake valve.l have the machine back up and running but was wondering if you can reuse old head gasket?looks way better than the cheap Chinese one l replaced it with.Any thoughts or tips.thanks Jim

I have before, but it wasn't ran too long before I removed the head again. If it looks good, no tares or anything, I guess you could try it. If it leaks or blows, change it right away, don't keep running it.

Your title says ..running rough.. and maybe you quit before you got to that part or maybe you just gave your post the wrong title. But FYI, a head gasket will not make your engine run rough. Well it could but you would sure enough know you had another problem by the hissing noises you would also hear. I guess there is also the fact that you are simply using the wrong name for a gasket. A head gasket seals the compression of the cylinder between the head and cylinder block.

I would not recommend reusing it.

The old thick metal clad ones could be reused, but on the modern engines when a new gasket is readily available, it's just not worth taking a chance.

I would never consider reusing it on a diesel unless it was so rare it could not be found.
