John deere 4020 will not shut off

Hello Zach welcome to YT! The majority of 4020s were
diesel, so we can assume that this is diesel and not a
gas engine? I assume you are pulling the stop knob on
the end of the throttle to move the throttle to the stop
position, duh. Get down by the pump and push the
lever to move more towards the stop position, if that
makes it shut off your linkage is out of adjustment or
has too much wear in the joints. If that does not shut it
off something in the pump is worn or has broke.

Yes it is a diesel , Ive disconnected the linkage at the pump and pushed the arm down tractor still doesnt die , any ideas on what could be broke ,something in injection pump?
