Can someone that does reloading check their book & see how much 2400 powder is the maximum for a 147 gr bullet in the 357 mag. I loaded some using the 158 data as my book did not show a 147 gr bullet. Man does that make it bark! Thanks.

My manual doesn't list a 147 grain bullet and starting load for a 158 is 11.3 grains and max is 14.9

I do not see 147 grain bullets for 38 special or 357 mag in my 50th edition Lyman reloading manual. I googled the bullet weight and found a full metal jacket with a smiley face on the flat nose of the bullet. good luck, stay safe and have fun.

Teddy: My old Speer #10 manual lists a 147 gr. HP and shows 14.2 gr. of 2400 as the starting load and 16.2 gr. as the maximum. Take it for what it's worth as the #10 manual was published in 1979, but the bullet and load are there.

Are you a reloader? You can use data from a heavier bullet to load a lighter bullet
safely.

My 1978 Sierra book jumps from 125 gr to 150 grain 357 Mag. Doesn't list a 147 gr. But, the book shows loads for the 150 gr bullet using 2400 powder from 14.0 gr (1150 fps) to 16.0 gr @ 1300 fps. My buddy loads me 160gr cast lead semi-wad cutters, in front of 14 grains of 2400. We had to dink with final diameter, and ended at .359 in the cast bullets to get the revolver to shoot well. steve

I loaded 15 gr & it shot the 147 gr smiley bullet through a 6 inch piece of popular firewood.

Probably want to be very careful of your background IF you ever need to pull the trigger in a crowded environment. Mine's for the occasional grizzly that may want to dispute who the dead elk belongs to. Haven't had to go there yet, but one close one when I was carrying the '06. steve
