Had a list cylinder start leaking - I think near 4 foot long. No farm implement dealer would repair, and I get sent to MFC in Galesburg, Illinois. Whoa! Got there I saw cylinders from about 6" long to one the was the length of tandem truck. That thing had to be near 2 foot in diameter.

Unbelieveable, to me, was many of the hydraulic cylinders were made in China.

The owner of the business didn't know the make of mine, but said he'd have it done and call me. Two days later I picked it up. Works great, no more leaking anyway.
Oh, the owner did tell me something like everybody and their makes hydraulic cylinders.

Told the owner give him plug here on Yesterday's Tractors.

Edit;
Saw a huge mill, the cutter right at 3 foot diameter. A lathe that had chuck near 3 diameter and the bed at least 10 foot long. My brother, with me, pointed out a extension for the bed that had be 8 foot.

I realize the purpose of your post is to give what is
these days called a ..shout out.. to MFC in Galesburg,
IL. When I read your post it reminded me of a YouTuber
from Australia who operates a machine shop named
Cutting Edge Engineering or CCE. Most of what he
does has to do with the repair of large hydraulic
cylinders doing things like replacing barrels that have
cracked etc. The video I am linking is not of a cylinder
but it is a fair sized part off of if a 90 ton excavator.

On Dial Up, can't view videos. Have new computer with Windows 10. Hope it gets back to watching vidoes.

Retired from Caterpillar, Inc. 36 years. I've seen some big hydraulic cylinders. Cat had one of world's biggest, drive small car through it. German machine, had to bring it in on barges up Illinois River. I got a grand tour of it. 2 1/2 stories tall, 1 story deep in floor, and then raised the roof for the rest. 110 electric motors. It would crush a steel ingot into a roller for crawler type tractors. They just couldn't keep it running.
