1963 JD 2010 Left Rear Wheel Frozen?

Curious if anyone has heard of this issue. Parked the JD in the Pole Barn in November without issue. Went out yesterday to move some snow. Tractor started just fine but would not move, only the right rear wheel would spin, but the left rear wheel is locked up. Not sure how this happens when nothing was wrong when I parked it. I'm wondering if the left brake could be frozen, but I doubt it since I replaced them last year. Just thought I would ask before I start tearing it apart. Thanks for any advice anyone can provide.

''thought I would ask before I start tearing it apart''

If it worked just recently before freezing weather I'm not sure why you would be considering tearing anything apart so quickly?

Could be moisture in the brake or water in the bottom of the ''final drive'' on that side that has frozen.

I would warm it up with a ''Knipco''/''torpedo heater'' or even a heat lamp if you don't have a portable heater, and if it frees up check for water in the final drive.

Great idea, I'll get the torpedo heater on it tomorrow and see what happens, thanks! I will post what happens.

Just as you suggested, after putting the torpedo heater on it for an hour or so, she came loose and is working fine. Guess I better get the fluids changed in it soon so I don't have a major malfunction! Thanks for the excellent advice.

GOOD to hear!

Sometimes it's the simple things!

Most of the time water will separate from the rear end fluid. After it sits, the water can be drained out without changing the fluids. You just have to keep it warm enough to not let it become ice again.

I pulled the drain plug at the left rear and got quite a bit of water out, then it turned to oil. I checked the right side and there was no water. I topped off the fluids and it should be good for now. Thanks again for the heads up!
