Little Genius Plow Restoration

I am looking to restore my little genius
plow. I am looking for suggestions. Do I
sandblast the entire thing? If so what is
the best process for painting after? All
suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

Take it completely apart, and don't forget to take lots of pictures in the process, then sandblast, then coat with Ospho or the phosphoric acid rust converter of your choice and then you are ready to paint. Take your choice on paint. Two coats of John Deere Buff Primer and then two coats of red paint. My preference was CaseIH 2150 Red. Buy a compatible thinner from CaseIH at the same time. Add a little hardener if you prefer; about one ounce in 6 ounces of paint was my mixture. Find a local source for the blue from Tallman's or Ace Hardware IH Blue is an exact match. IH semi-gloss black for the hitch and coulters looks good. I know of no match for the IH 901 White so either find an alternate source or use IH 935 White, but not period correct for the purists.

I agree with taking apart cleaning taking a lot of pictures as you go for every steep of the way and then sandblasting. I wont go into painting as I am not a painter, all machinery I painted was with just spray cans.

Van Sickle and Tallman may be one in the same company. If you check paint cans from either company, both have a Lincoln, NE address. My guess is one production line with different labels in the final step. I could not think of Van Sickle when I posted my initial reply. That is what happens when you get old and get CRD disease.
