Fuel bowl change

We have a 54 john deere 70 and was wondering if we could change the fuel bowl assembly from the automatic that is on it now to a manual shutoff. It does have a t fitting that comes of the side and wondered if that would be an issue

My opinion is to fix your old one. Sooner or later you will
forget to turn it off and fill the crankcase with gasoline.
One oil change-one tank of gas and that new valve is
getting cheaper now .

If you decide to remove the automatic shutoff you can cap the unused port on the ''T'' with a standard 1/8'' pipe cap.

Thank you for responding. I'm looking at rebuilding the old one but wanted to know if changing it was an option.

The fittings off the side are two steel oil lines that operate the automatic-shut-off.. Rebuild your shut-off.. Mark the side of the shut-off and watch how it comes apart. You can get a diaphragm kit from STEINER TRACTOR--$19.00..

Thank you. I'll look into this.
