Ford/New holland 508 roller bar rake

Hi all, new here!
Restoring a Ford/New Holland 508 side delivery rake and I need a spring for the gearbox. Any information on a supplier or dimensions on the spring would be helpful. I am thinking of trying to wind it myself. Any help on a winding procedure?
Thanks, Tom

Try Messicks.com New Holland dealer
in Pa, might be able to come up with
the spring. Will need model and
serial number to get correct part

Hi. Messicks has a 3inch X 2 7/8 inch dia. spring made with .125 or .188 inch dia. wire. I THINK that the spring I need should be about 2 inches tall and the Wire diameter,as measured from the broken pieces, should be 0.177 inches.
New Holland, here in Fayetteville,NC, was totally unable to help me. There is no p/n listed.
I have emailed both Ford and New Holland and I am waiting for replies.
I will call NH in PA and see if they can help.
Tnx for the repost.
Tom

Ooops. Not Messicks! Another spring company. Messicks was in the neighborhood of $100.00 and I was guessing at the size needed.
Sorry.
Tom

I found a phone number for NH. I bought a parts manual for my 508 roller bar hay rake AND they were able to supply me with an original engineering drawing of the spring that is in the gearbox!!! This is a 1960 model hay rake.
I will wrap up a new spring myself!
If anyone needs this number just put up a post with an email address and I will send you the number.

Sry for the delay. Not good at this computer stuff.
I don't know how to call you. Call me at 910-893-6031 and leave a message. Or email me.
Thanks, Tom
