8N Ford lift arms

Help ! Only one of my lift arms raises when I try to raise my brush hog. What?s up with that. By the way. I?m a shade tree mechanic at best so explain it so I can understand. Thank you.

So are you saying the 3 point only one side lifts and the other does not?? Is it the pivot point under the rear end and the 3 point arm is not on the pin or the pin broken/missing?? Or are you saying the rock shaft on one side slips and does not go up. Lack of info make it hard for us to help you help your self.

Mike you have on each side two parts that are often referred to as arms. The bottom ones that your bush hog is hooked into and the upper ones that are roughly parallel to the bottom ones. The upper ones are connected to the lower ones by the links, the right one having the leveling box with the crank near the top. You need to look at these parts first to make sure that they are all connected on each side. At the point where the upper arms attach to the body of the tractor they go over a splined horizontal shaft called the rock shaft. Watch to see if the rock shaft rotates back and forth as you operate the lift. If it rotates but one side does not lift the splines are stripped on either the shaft or the arm, on that side. If one end of the rockshaft rotates and the other doesn't your rock shaft is broken. Post back.
