Cracked Dry Sleeve Perkins Diesel

Hi all, I am currently in the process of rebuilding a Perkims AD4.203, before attempting to install the Dry Sleeves I placed them in the Freezer and I heated the block. After letting the sleeves cool and the block warm I attempted to install one and it went about halfway in and wouldnt go any further. I used a block of wood and a rubber mallet to give a few very gentle taps to see if it would budge but it wouldnt. Im going to have to pull it back out and try again but my problem is I'm not sure if I cracked the sleeve. It has some visual lines on the inside that appear like scratches but im not sure if they could be cracks, I cannot feel anything when i run my finger across it. Whatre your thoughts?

Not sure if it's cracked, but DON'T use a block of wood OR the rubber mallet. I use a heavy steel plate held tight against the sleeve and a steel hammer. Wood has a risk of dropping a splinter in the block groove that you might not see.

Years ago I did one and neglected to clean the Cosmoline off the sleeve before freezing it. That one stuck and broke. The rest we cleaned up with paint
thinner first then froze. Heated the block and they fell right in. Couple taps at the end to be sure they were seated.

No, I bought the sleeve throught the dealer and the block had no damage to it so I didnt think to measure
