I am new, need direction best way to flush and clean old crud and hydraulic fluid from my 8n . I have removed lift cover and lower pump.

I think that many here would tell you that they're sorry that you waited until now to post.

You could have gotten a leg up on the process before you even removed any covers or anything by adding some diesel to your hydraulic fluid reservoir... turning on the PTO... and then taking the tractor out for a short, five to ten minute, drive; while giving the three point hitch a few activations up and down.

That process would loosen up quite a bit of that "crud" so that it comes out with the hydraulic fluid.

Everybody has a different recipe for how much diesel (or maybe a different lighter weight "solvent")... how long of a drive... etc... but this type of "pre-clean" is commonly used.
 
I use a pump up garden sprayer and some kerosene to blast around in them and flush junk out. Also scrub brushes as needed where you can reach.
 
I use mineral spirits and any long handle brushes I can find to reach the bottom. You will have to flush it out several time to get
the gunk out.
