Power steering Ford 861 Powermaster.
Looking for information;
My Ford861 power steering pump is a belt driven Thompson products Model P1072.
It developed a severe leak usually emptying the reservoir in about 30 minutes.
Does anyone have any information on the availability of these pumps or how to fix the leak?
I think it is leaking from the shaft bearing to the belt pully.
Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you![/b]

I know nothing specific about that pump, however, I've replaced MANY leaking shaft seals in PS pumps.

Dunno if yours has a sleeve bearing on the shaft or ball bearings, either way, if there's no excessive play/wear, replacing the seal should do the job.

In most cases, shaft oil seals are pretty much generic, even if you can't find parts specifically for that pump, if there's any numbers on the seal, often they can be cross-referenced, or a new seal can be found by carefully measuring the dimensions of the oil one.

Here's a couple of the MANY resources out there to find seals by dimension or original part number.

Thank you for the information & the quick response Bob.
It does have a sleeve bearing. I will look and attempt to change it out. Especially need the tractor before winter sets in.

Thanks again. Chat more later.
