re: Removing Front Hydraulic Pump off of an 8N

Ii have a parts tractor here - a Ford 8N, that came with an Allied front end loader that I wish to put onto my newer 600 model unit. The parts tractor has the hydraulic pump mounted on the front and it is driven by a shaft that is attached to the end of the crank shaft. What is the process used to remove that shaft from the end of the crankshaft to switch the pump over to the 600 and is it a simple, direct swap between the two machines? Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated as well as any tips on mounting the loader unit onto the newer tractor? I ask only because I have never installed a loader before and if there are any little tips or secrets, I want to learn. Is it advisable to put a filter for the hydraulic oil on the loader? It seems to me that it would be a good idea but would it be more work and expense than it is worth? The tractor doesn't get used a great deal, but I have no desire to neglect it or cause unneeded and excessive wear. Thanks in advance.

As for pulling the pump it depends on if it has a splined drive shaft or a screw in type. If splined it should be as simple as pulling a couple of bolts out and moving the pump to the side then pulling the shaft out. You will need the correct crank shaft pulley on the 600 so the drive hub can be bolted on and replacing that can mean pulling the front axle off. If I remember right the 600 series is a bit longer then the 8N is so that might make it hard to do also
