860 proof meter issue

I bought my 55 Ford 860 4 years ago with the hour meter reading all zero's. The tach appears to work fine. Any idea whether the hour meter can be fixed or do I likely need a new proof meter. I tried installing an auxiliary hour meter. I used the same power source as I did for my volt meter. Volt meter works but hour meter does not. The hour meter does work when connected directly to a 12 volt battery. Tractor is converted to 12 volt. Any suggestions?

The proof meter is most likely an aftermarket. Unless you can find a way to get into it and fix it yourself, it would not be cost effective to have it repaired, if you could find anyone interested.

If it an original equipment, and rare, there are people who repair them, but it's costly.

As for the hour meter working on the same circuit as the volt meter, recheck your wiring, it should work.
