6v generator wiring

Getting my E4 back together. It originally had a 6v with cutout relay and three position light switch but the gen was changed to one with a two coil regulator. The A terminal is connected to the bottom of the reg and the F terminal is connected to the F on the reg. The wire from the ammeter goes to the B on the reg. and there is another wire from the light switch that would normally go on the generator's F post. Only one place left, the L terminal. Do I need it? The reg looks like the voltage limiter is already grounded to its base. No lights on the tractor, long gone.

1) The wire that used to go from the FLD post on the Generator up to the light switch IS NO LONGER USED...The genns FLD gets its ground via the VR now NOT via the light switch..

2) The Gennys FLD post now wires instead to the FLD terminal on the new Voltage Regulator..

3) BAT on VR wires to the Load output (NOT Battery/Starter Input) side of the Ammeter

4) The LOAD terminal on the new VR feeds loads like Lights and Ignition (via their switches BAT Input) instead of them being
wired and fed off the LOAD side of the ammeter as before..

5) HOWEVER it will still work if loads (Lights and Ignition) are still wired to the load side of ammeter as before and
you don't use and ignore the LOAD terminal on the VR

Sooooooooo to answer your question NOOOOOOO you do not need it, but if I had a 4 terminal with the extra 4th L terminal I
would wire lights and ignition to it versus the ammeter

Got it ????

Got it, John. That's kinda what I figured. It worked before I tore it apart to rebuild the engine but it's been a long time. The wires around the ammeter and switch are old and I'm not gonna touch them unless I have to.

MHO, now is the time to replace all those old wires. They corrode in side out of sight, effectively lowering their current carrying capacity..
