Original equipment versus not

I recently acquired a second 9N (RED). Although its far more complete than my daily driver (BLUE), not every part appears to be original. My plan is to replace any reproduction parts on it (RED) with original parts from my daily driver (BLUE).

RED - 1941 Ford 9N S/N 9N68506 - VERY ORIGINAL. Very few repro parts but some damaged original parts

BLUE - 1942 Ford 9N S/N 9N90717 - 12VOLT with Electronic Ignition. Many reproduction and mismatched parts.

Thanks again gentleman!

A 9N should be GRAY and no other color any place. One that is painted blue or red or red and gray are not original

Stripping and painting may be in the future for the RED. But the BLUE, will never be that kind of tractor.

Paint depends on how close to all original I can get it. I'm still in the inventory phase.

I never really planned on picking up a second 9N. I acquired it in a trade.

Can you ID the parts by chance?

Due to being on dial up I do not get to see many pictures because it takes a long time to down load.

So are you sure there 9Ns not maybe a 2N which are almost the same but yet different. I have seen way to many 2Ns called 9N. One way to know if it is a 2N is the radius rods. The 9N has I-beam radius rods and the 2N has tube type radius rods. Both have serial numbers that start with 9N but are 2 different models. 9N was made fro m1939 to 1942 and in 1942 Ford came out with the 2N and made them till 1947 and in 1948 they came out with the 8N and even with the 8N there is a older type and the newer type. The older has front mount distributor and the newer side mount

Very sure they are both 9n. I am familiar with the different models and the typical differences. Also researched the serial numbers and that's how I can tell one is 1941 and the other is a 1942.

The 42, the blue one does have 8n running boards though. But they both have correct wheels, radius rods and distributor locations.

Where it's kind of tough is that even though I have all the parts diagrams, I can't always tell which parts are OEM and which are after market. Other parts may be OEM but for other models and years and I am interested in that information as well.

These tractors are old enough to be my daddy. It's hard to trace the lineage of every part because there are so few close up pics of all original 9n's. I think I have some real 2n and 8n parts mixed in with reproduction parts. The list was actually much longer and the parts in the pics were the ones I think might be real Ford parts but off different models.

I have no plans to sell either tractor but I do want to make the red one as original as possible. It just seems like respectable thing to do. Knowing it has all its parts 30 years from now could mean something to somebody.
