Adding hydraulic oil to Oliver 1650

I drained about 12 gallons of hydraulic oil from the rear plug on my 1650, and changed both hydraulic oil filters. While trying to add oil, it seemed to fill up at 3 gallons. What am I not doing right?

You drained the transmission and rear end and you're trying to refill the hydraulic reservoir. They're two different things. You add the trans and rear end oil through a plug under a tin cap by the shift. Only way to drain the hydraulic system is to pump it out.

Exactly as rrlund stated that is the trans
and rear you drained and are trying to
refill. Trans and rear take gear oil.
Hydraulic system takes hydraulic fluid.
Hydraulic system gets pumped out and
refilled at the dipstick on front of the
seat.

"What am I not doing right?" Not getting and reading an owners manual. Authentic manuals can be had at the Floyd County museum. Cheap copies can be obtained at Jensales.
