Need advice on buying tank for Ford 601

So I decided to scrap the old rusty gas tank from my newly acquired Ford 601 and as I started to order the tank I realized that I need a 1/4" metal fuel line and not the makeshift combination of rubber hose and sections of the old original fuel line. So I ordered the fuel line. The one that has a straight section then a big U section with what looks like 3/8" fittings on the ends. (Part No.NCA9282B). I also ordered the sending unit and the gasket. Now after looking at the old tank and seeing that someone changed the fittings where the fuel lime connects to the tank I realize that I have to order a Fuel Shut Off Valve also. (Part No. 311292WOR). Wish I would have know before to avoid extra shipping charges.
Well, I believe that I have it all now. The tank, 1/4" fuel line, fuel shut off valve, sending unit and sending unit gasket. If anyone knows of anything that I would need or any suggestions please don't hesitate to speak up. I would appreciate the help. I'm kind of feeling my way through this.
Thanks, RCA

The problem with the all metal line is you have to route it in such a way to get it well a way from the manifold or it will cause the gas In the line to get hot and boil and then it will not run. The rubber line was made to keep the manifold heat from boiling the gas and causing a problem

Wow! Thanks for letting me know. Would cutting the metal line and using just the two ends with rubber hose and adding an inline filter effect the flow rate of the fuel?

You need to stay with the factory line or route the line in such a way it is well away from the manifold so it does not get hot enough to boil the fuel.

Also generally speaking putting in an in line filter will cause you mare problems then it will ever fix. Most in line filters are made for systems with a fuel pump so a gravity flow system like a tractor does not work well if at all. The correct sediment bowl and screen will filter as much or more then an in line filter will

Yes. That's what I was afraid of. The previous owner had it rigged up like that. The factory fitting coming out of the tank with a short piece of the factory metal line with rubber hose connected to it. The hose was connected to the other end of the metal line just before it connected to the carb. In the middle of the hose was an inline filter. That was a lot of changes to overcome but I could not verify if it was effecting the flow because the tank had so much rust in it. When the parts come in I will post a follow up on the results. Thanks for your help. Very much appreciated.

Your best bet on that is to get a true factory fuel line and the true factory parts for the tank shut off and the sediment bowl which is down by the carb. I have dealt with trying to run lines on those tractor with all metal and in doing so you have to make it a whole lot longer and also route it way around the front of the engine or the back of the engine but front works the best
