Gear shift won't move

Need any help. We have a 1957 Massey Ferguson 35 gas tractor. So it started with the tractor getting stuck in 2nd gear. We were able to move the gears but the
gear shift will not move at all.

Please any suggestions very appreciated.

Place the Hi-Lo lever in the center, start position, this removes any gear tension. Remove the oil fill plug, try moving the large gear either way to the center position. If the gear shift still won't do the neutral crossover, the 2-3 shift rail may need moved also. You don't say, but will the tractor run with the clutch pedal UP, or does the engine die under load? If it dies with the clutch up, then one of the shift forks is broken, causing the transmission to be in two gears at once which kills the engine. If that's the case steering box has to come off and a split at the trans-diff case needs done to get the rails and broken fork out. Have seen it happen before..
