Hello to everyone,
I?m having some trouble starting my Ford 601 Workmaster.
When I push the starter button I get that single click from the
solenoid. I jump started my starter using the tractor battery so
I know the battery is good so what could be the problem?
Thanks in advance

Connections. They must be shiny clean not gray clean. check also the wires of the cables where they go into the backs of the terminals. They also must be clean without corrosion.

You'll need to do some "load testing" with a volt meter, or at least a test light.

Begin at the starter motor. Put one lead of the meter/test light on the starter cable stud, the actual stud that goes into the starter, not the cable end. Place the other lead on the starter case, clean the paint away to get a good connection.

Push and hold the starter button. If there is battery voltage, and nothing is happening, the starter is open, could be bad brushes, or open winding.

If low voltage, dim light, and the cables are heating up, starter may be squealing, the starter drive is jammed, or something is stopping the engine from turning.

If there is no voltage, no light, there is a bad connection.

Move the lead from the starter stud to the cable end, try again. Keep moving the lead to the next connection, repeating the test. Eventually you will find the point where the voltage drop is, that is where the problem is. Be sure to run every test with the starter button down.

Look for evidence of a bad connection, such as heat discolored insulation, corrosion, any connection that heats up or smokes is evidence of a bad connection.

Just be careful, the engine could crank at any time during the test. Make sure the tractor is in neutral, stay clear of moving parts! Best done with an assistant to operate the starter switch.
