Fuel Tank Coating Problem

I coated my JD gas tank with Red-Kote about 3 years ago but just now got it re-installed. Put gas in it and all looked good at first but now the gas in the sediment bowl has a red tint. When the gas evaporates it leaves a sticky red residue. I ignited some of this gas in a metal container. It burns with more soot than clean gas does. When the gas has finally burned up there is a little bit of the sticky residue left.

Since the coloring dissolves in gas I?m not as concerned with the carb clogging as I am with residue building up in the engine. The Red-Kote instructions say that dye coming out into the gas won?t harm the engine ?to our knowledge? but I don?t know that dye is the only thing leaching into the gas. I?m not seeing any strings of coating in the sediment bowl or sediment bowl filter.

Would appreciate advice regarding problems with using this gas tank or is it no big deal if the gas has a red tint?

The one from the tank makes a smokier flame than the clean gas. What I'm thinking of doing is using the "pony" tank which I hadn't coated. It doesn't hold much gas but hold enough for my purposes.

Might be an option but so far nobody on this forum or the supplier of Red Kote thinks just the color is a problem. Red Kote says the color will eventually pretty much go away.
