6 X 12V super A conversion

I've converted my '52 Super A to 12V. Initially it ran abet rough but ran. The Alternator, wiring , plugs, starter, coil, battery and points are all new. Now (a week later) the battery is completely dead and I get no spark at all. Also after cranking with recharged battery the coil , with a resistor , gets so hot you can't begin to touch it Don't know if the coil is bad (Is there a way to test?) or if the coil should not have the resistor

Are you sure your points are opening and closing?? If the points stay closed the coil will in fact get hot and it will do so pretty fast. Or you may have a short some place. As for a dead battery we would need more info as to what alternator you used.

Checked the points by using hand crank to get the distributor to the high lobe and double checked the clearance. The alternator is a universal 63 amp made by Delco. Might you know of a sight that has a 6 to 12 v wiring schematic? Thanks

Universal Delco??? No such thing.

So is it a 3 wire Delco 10SI or a modified 1 wire ???

The alternator is listed in Yesterday's Tractors catalog as a universal Delco alternator. There are in fact 3 wires.

If that is so it would be a Delco 10SI. The 2 wire plug should have a #1 and #2 on the housing to mark which wire goes where. The #1 goes to the ignition switch the side that is hot when turned on and the #2 goes to the big charge stud on the alternator

I will double check all my wiring. Is there a way to confirm the coil is still working? I've changed the plug wires and wire from coil to distributor. I pulled a plug and grounded it to the block and not seeing any spark. Thanks

Coil are all but bullet proof so more then likely you have cored points and if the point are cored you will NEVER get a spark

That should say corroded not core but the stupid spell check did know better. If you open the point by hand with the ignition on you should both see and hear a spark
