I am trying to restore this tractor which is a select o speed. I was using it last week with a 6 foot bush hog, its worked wonderful however at the end of the day I backed into the barn came back two days later, checked all my fluid levels which were good then could not get the tractor to start in that it is locked in gear.The engine turn free until it wants to start then just runs for a minute and bogs down. How do I determine if the bands in the transmission are stuck or not. I placed the rear end of the tractor in the tow mode and the tractor moved freely then pulled on it gently with the tow mode off and the wheels slid,,, Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like what mine did when the number one band was a little tight. However, yours was running well at this same setting, correct? I am leaning towards dirty oil, which can happen in a transmission which is just sitting. The first thing that you need to do is get a manual because the SOS is complicated, and damage can easily be done by simply trying to remove the cover.
