Farmall A steering arm replacement.

I am repairing a mid forties IH Farmall A steering box. At one time the steering arm (square type) was welded to the steering shaft. Most of the wheel play was from the bad steering shaft fit to the arm. Play was over 180 degrees. I was able to disassemble the steering box. I have searched for a new steering arm with no results. Is there any conversion available to use any other steering arm? I don't see any steering arms for the taper shaft or square shaft.

Thanks, Rick.

Try a salvage yard. "Burch store" (also on eBay) comes to mind. Note: I have no interest in Burch.

I had a 49 super A with the same problem, worn square shaft and steering arm. The permanent fix is to replace the shaft and steering arm with one from a later model Super A. When mine had that problem I went to the local IH dealer and was lucky enough to get the oldest parts man in the place to wait on me. At his suggestion I replaced most of the parts in the steering box and completely eliminated the problem. This was back before all the mergers. If you can find the parts books you can probably figure out what you need.
