JD Model B Temp Gauge Connection

When I got my 1939 JD Model B a previous owner had used a 3/4 inch brass plug screwed into the hole where I think the lead for the temperature gauge normally goes. The disconnected temperature gauge is rusted out and I want to replace it. Problem is that every gauge I see online has what is described as "5/8 -18 UNF end with 1/2" NPT pipe bushing".

The attached picture shows where I think the connection is made. The old connector (1/2 inch) is also shown next to the 3/4 inch hole. I'm guessing there was originally a bushing to transition between the two. I know others have replaced temperature gauge on a model B. The 5/8"-18 end of a new gauge connection is throwing me.

That 3/4 inch plug you found is actually a 1/2 NPT pipe plug. Pipe sizes refer to the ID of the pipe. The bushing screws into the water elbow and the 5/8 screws into the bushing. Clean the threads in the elbow real good and use Teflon tape.
