Finish mower belt keeps coming off

Hey yall, i just got a 6ft Caroni finish mower and bougjt brand new belts for it amd replaced the gear oil. The tension is tighy as it can get and the left belt keeps coming off 15 min into cutting. Is this possibly a bad pulley?

Belts usually come off due to misalignment. A bad pulley is possible but would be very unusual. The most likely way that a pulley would go bad is that the center has gotten wallowed out due to running loose. Most likely a pulley just needs to be shifted on it's shaft a little. Just set a straight edge on it and site along the straight edge and see where it aims.

Look closely at your belt. Could have a cord broken even if it is new.

That's true, once they come off or turn over, they are never the same.

Every finish mower I have messed with when that starts to happen the spindle bearings are going bad and let the pulley wobble and throw the belt off

Belt from the manufacture or a brand X belt from the local parts jobber ?

I had a pulley that was cracked part way around the hub on the bottom side, next to the deck. I fought with that thing for a long time until it finally cracked bad enough to show itself. That mower deck went from being a pain in the neck to a well oiled machine for less than $20.

I would shake and spin l the pulleys looking for a rough bearing.
