1086 Wet Brakes issues after fluid change

Hi all,

I think it is obvious what the issue is here - I am look for some confirmations to what I think it is and to document what it is on this forum for others.

I recently changed the hy-trans fluid out when I changed the filter.
Drained 15 gallons and replaced 15 gallons with 303. The fluid had been in the tractor for at least 20 years - I do not know the last time the filter was changed - which is partially why I was changing filters and fluids.

started the tractor and it took about 60 seconds for everything to pump up - because I drained it - after this, its hydraulic response was normal.

Everything is working fine, steering, hitch, PTO, except the brakes.
I felt the right side pump up, but
the right side is engaged and pedal solid -
the left side brake is disengaged and the pedal is loose to the floor.
the tractor struggles moving because of the right side brakes being "engaged" , and when I press the right side pedal it stops the rotation completely.

When I press the right brake pedal it seems to pump up the left brake pedal. When released it goes back to the same situation.
When the tractor is off, the right wheel frees up, I can manually push it.

I have ordered a rebuild kit for the brake value behind the firewall. New fluid - worn rings (possibly over 20 years old) = weirdness on the brakes.

What do you all think?

Sincerely,

Ray

Let us know what you find. I have 17000 hours on a 1086 and the brake valve is untouched so far. The brakes are delayed when I press the pedals though so that time might be coming. Had to reseal the steering motor though
