What can be accessed via clutch cover removal on 885?

Can it be ascertained if a PTO clutch that won't disengage is stuck or badly worn once the clutch cover is removed? I have adjusted the Laycock clutch but the dash and tank are off for a rewire so I cannot start the engine. Seems like an opportune time to take a look see IF there is something to see.
 
Scott, there is not much to see. The clutch discs are covered by the pressure plate and inside the flywheel.

I'm trying to remember, doesn't the clutch pedal and shaft come off with the cover? If so, is there room to slide the TO bearing back and unbolt the PP? I don't wish to preform any work on the clutch but would, if possible like to ascertain the clutch condition.

The above may be just making work but with the hood, tank, dash, etc. already off, IF the tractor needs to be split to free-up or replace the clutches now seems like a good time to do it.
 
You can unbolt the clutch but the pto disc is the furthest forward. This far into it I would just split and take it apart as you will only have about 8 more bolts to fully split. I usually leave the clutch hanging on the drive shaft when going back together to make it easy to line up.

I guess it only makes sense. Boy do tractor projects snowball, I figured to be bush hogging by now. Weather man says it's supposed to snow... mid-March in NC, go figure. Upside is it buys me time to make repairs I might of otherwise ignored... until they bit me! Thanks!
