8N hesitates under load

PA 8N

New User
Hi all Im new here. Im a proud owner of a Ford 8N. Its a front mount distributor. Converted it to 12v, electronic ignition, new plugs, wires, rotor, cap and carb. Starts right up even in very cold temps. It idles but you can hear a continues skip. Until its warm it will not move without hesitating or stalling. Once warmed up it will run but with a little hesitation. When the PTO is engaged to operate the bucket or backhoe it really bogs down or will stall out. If the throttle is increased significantly it will work but its reved up way to much to be effective. When I put the electronic ignition in the magnet did not fit. I had to do some filing on the inside where it slips onto the distributor shaft. I called the manufacture and they said that shouldnt matter. So here I am with this piece of history and can not use it effectively. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Do a b it of trouble shooting
#1 check that you have the plug wires hooked up correctly. The 8N would run with 2 wires on wrong but lack power.
#2 check that you have a good blue/white spark that will jump a 1/4 inch gap at all 4 plugs.
#3 pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas that will fill a pint jar in under 3 minutes.
#4 when was the last time you dumped the water and mud out of the air cleaner and filled it with good oil.
#5 does choking it hurt or help?? If it help good chance you need to open up the main jet a tad bit.

By the way I too own an 8N with a loader and backhoe but mine has the front mount crank drive pump and is a late 1950 so it ha the side mount distributor
