Farmall H & M Air Pre-Cleaner

Any recommendations to cleaning 60 year oil encrused old dirt from inside the tin part of the Donaldson pre-cleaner?

I bought marine stove alcohol, can of carb cleaner, and kerosene. In preparation as I wasn't sure how to get inside it but thought these might help loosen the dirt.

On a lot of stuff like that I use gas. Cost is a whole lot cheaper then carb cleaner etc. and most of the time works well

Took mine to work with me steamed cleaned it until the crap stopped coming out, then put it in a solvent tank and pumped fluid through it all day, then another steam clean, took it home and it set upright for about three years until I was ready for paint and the oil cup still had some of those corn cob fuzzy things in it. Must of ground a lot of feed in it's life.

There is a product called RedPower that will remove almost anything. Soak it in this stuff. Wear rubber
gloves.

Wonder if that's anything like the homemade solvent called Ed's Red consisting mostly of kerosene and acetone.

When I go back to paint it. What have you done to coat the inside?
