JD 60 clutch fork

In the process of rebuilding the clutch fork shaft on my 60 and was wondering if there is suppose to be an o-ring on the top of the shaft to seal? I am unable to find an o-ring on parts book and there is a groove the shaft like there is suppose to be an o-ring or packing to seal. Any help would be appreciated and suggestions on shops to do machine work on this piece.

I'm in the process of putting a new clutch in my 60. But, quite frankly I pulled the entire clutch fork housing and shaft off in one set. So I'm not rebuilding mine like you are. I also looked in the parts manual and it doesn't seem to list anything like a seal or O-ring. I'll take a look at mine tomorrow afternoon and shout back at ya. There's also a guy on here by the handle of OLD. He's a JD guru. See if you can find a way to ping him. He'd probably know.

Hey bleedgreen60, I just looked at my clutch fork. Like I stated, I'm not taking mine apart. The only thing I see is the snap ring to keep it in place in the housing. I really don't think there's any kind of rubber ring or anything else in the housing. Dunno if this helps. Good luck.
