We have a 6 cylinder continental engine in a joy air compressor. I found a number on the head that is F601A-363. I've read that some similar engines went into tractors.of these engines were put in tractors. If so could someone please help me locate a new intake and exhaust manifold? Thank you!

Look about the middle of the block, opposite side from the manifold, for a riveted on plate.

If there, those numbers will identify the engine family. Look for a letter possibly an F, followed by a 3 digit number, the displacement.

With that, an old school auto supply or internet search should locate the parts.

Unfortunately that tag is missing from the engine. However on the same side of the engine is the manifold on the bottom back corner of the block I can see a number that looks like it's F2278 C M

The cylinder head number you posted and the # on the block point to it being an "F227" series engine.

You might GOOGLE "Continental F227 Manifold".

Up north here I get continental parts from these gents.
Good luck.

In the event they have nothing or know of none around try a fulls service welding supplier as Lincoln used both the 4 and 6 cyl Continental in their welders.
