8N front mount distributor

I have no spark at front of coil but spark everywhere up to that point including the points. Everything is new so what could be causing this?

The way your trying to explain your problem is very confusing. If you have power at the points you have to have power to the single wire on the coil. Having the points set wrong could be your problem they need to be set at 0.015

Sorry for the confusion, what I meant was there is power to the top of the coil. Then at the bottom there is power to the spring(to the points) but not to the tab that powers the distributor cap

If that is the case you may have a bad rotor or a cracked cap that is shorted out

I forgot to add if the points are closed you will not have power there because the points ground the coil system and when open that is when you get spark to the plugs

Many times there is a film of oil on the contacts of the points... I found this to be the case more times than I want to admit after spending several hours thinking it was something else. one solution is to fold up a dollar bill and drag through them. Another is to file them. that takes the oil off and leaves new metal.
Good Luck

If he has spark when he opens the points then they are clean or he would not have spark.
