Straightening old rubber

I have a fifty year old hard rubber battery tray that is impossible to replace, and is in good enough condition to use. Problem is it is bent, how do you get old rubber to release its shape and take a new shape? I have had weights on it for nearly a year.

Put it in an oven and gently heat it until it is malleable. Start at about 150 degrees and see if that is enough and go from there. You will then need to fabricate some kind of a form to clamp it to until it cools.

We used to use gasoline to soften tire beads back in the day.

Some gas soaked rags and over bending it to shape might be a start.
