Massey 44 starter

444 is 12 volt, 44 is 6 volt. If converting to 12 volt, you will need new lights, generator, regulator, etc. Ben

I put a gear reduction starter on my MH44 EFI from Goldburg, the compression is 9.5:1, it cranks over a lot easier.

Starter for a Cockshutt 40 or 50 is the same as a MH 44 except for where the battery cable mounts.

Will it work? The nose cone on my original starter looks
Just a little longer than the starter off the 444
Starter?

Starters are as generic as socks . Just look at the number of mounting bolts , pattern, gear tooth number , tooth pitch and rotation. New Generic starters from eBay of your local parts shop son’t Cost any more than a pre abused starter . There are some outright powerful starters such as the MT39 which will wail over even an 8.1 Diesel in the winter .

Thank you buickanddeere, can you send more info
On that powerfull starter you mentioned as I am
Rebuilding my h260 and have a set of M&W pistons
I?m putting in. Compression ratio will be higher.

Took almost a minute to google MT39 and find the info.
