Naa starter bendix problem

Ford NAA- I have a problem with bendix disingaging before engine starts. My tractor has ben converted to 12v, has alternator and
electronic ign. I am not sure if the starter is 12v. As soon as the engine fires and tries to start the bendix kicks out and the starter
just spins without turning the engine. When I leave ign switch off starter will turn engine fine. What"s the problem Ive tried everything
except changing starter? Ive installed a new battery,cleaned all connections on Battery and starter.

That is the way the old style bendix works. Kicks out as soon as the engine fires. Works in warm weather. Makes starting difficult in cold weather.

You need to buy a new ratchet style drive. Won't kick out as quickly.

You say you tried everything did you try adjusting the timing a bit?

Yes it is the new style.
