restoring chrome hood strips

The chrome is faded on the outside and rusty on the inside. Is there a way to keep the rust on the inside from eating thru to the outside?
Short of having the strips "re-chromed" what's the best way to clean them up?

I would try some rust convertor on the inside.

Well for chrome bumpers use a crumpled piece of aluminum foil. worth a shot.

You might clean the rust off and coat it with epoxy primer.

I agree with the rust converter. You need it to penetrate to the bottom of the pits in order to "kill" the rust.
