More Bate and Switch When Ordering Tractor Parts

Well Guys,

I found another one. "Tractor Care Inc.", has and add the displays an ignition switch for "N" series Ford tractors, (part # 8N3679C), in a Ford/New Holland Box. I ordered two.

They arrived today (a day early) and turned out to be a couple of Sparex (part # S.60617) knock-offs.

We have another company for the "Bate and Switch List".

Wishing you better luck,

rusty,

I've never see an ad offering an "Original" "N" series ignition switch.

The point of my post was simply that the company in question, offers a "Ford-New Holland" brand switch for sale and actually ships a different (some would say lesser) brand to fill the order.

I've found that such business practice doesn't seem to bother some folks but I consider it deceptive.

Thanks,

I buy hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars worth of tractor parts every month. Some of them are OEM, some are aftermarket. Back in the day of the 8n-1948 to 52 there were very few aftermarket parts, they were FORD, made in the USA. Fast forward to 2017 and there are very few FORD parts and they are about all aftermarket, made somewhere in the world but not in the USA. Order yourself a Ford/ New Holland part and look on the packaging and see how many parts are Made in the USA. Very few I assure you. No different with John Deere or any other company. A plastic bag with a company name on it does not guarantee a USA made part or even a quality made part. I don't call it bait and switch, I call it a sign of the times and it ain't gonna get any better.

I found a ad for the ignition switch for a "N"series Ford tractor from "Tractor Care Inc". It says it is an aftermarket switch and my be packed in OEM package or a package direct from manufacture.

LOTS of counterfeit stuff out there, from clothing to ladies' handbags to Rolexs to shoes to auto parts. I wouldn't hold my breath that "FIAT" actually MADE that (likely) chinese ignition switch, are you going to?

I would guess that when your N was built that less than half of the parts were made at the Ford factory. Granted, most parts would have been made in the US, and some in Canada. but all manufacturers have always bought many of their parts from outside sources, and have repackaged spares into their own packaging. Nothing new.

You guys are almost as good at bitchin' about your blessings as the old radio guys are. You should be grateful you can get parts for something that is over 60 years old at all.

If it wasn't in the manufacturers best interest, whoever the heck they might be, you can rest assured the parts would not be available. They are not offering them out of the kindness of their hearts.
