I have a 1953 Farmall Super C that I bought. It runs somewhat but have noticed it is negative ground with alternator but the wire from the coil to the distributor is hooked from the positive side of the coil to distributor. I thought it had to be from the negative side of coil but I am new to old tractors so not sure if this makes a difference or not. I have not checked the coil so not sure if 6 volt but does have a resistor so may be 6 volt. Any help would be appreciated.

Reverse the coil connections if it makes you feel better, but it wont start or run any differently, unless it is in your imagination. Well, that is if you dont break something in the reversing process.

I advise its best to wire the ignition coil as follows. They didn't place those + and - labels for no reason you know. If it
makes NO DIFFERENCE why did they bother to label and design coils with the + and - ???????????????

I would wire a coil:

A) As it was designed for,

B) As it was labeled,

C) As the tractor manufacturers wired them which is:

For a Positive Ground the coils + wires to Ground via the points when closed.

For a Negative Ground the coils - wires to Ground via closed points.

Sure, it will still fire even at reverse polarity so do as you please, but as an Electrical Engineer I would wire them as designed and labeled and how the tractor makers wired them.......

I haven't touched them but was just wanting to be sure they were wired as they should be. It is a new purchase.
