New Holland TC30 no start

Hi There,
We have been trying to get our tractor to start for a couple weeks now with no luck. It literally worked one day and not the next. We took the starter in to our local New Holland Dealership and they said it was bad. We ponied up and replaced it. Still no start...checked the battery and it failed...we replaced it. We have power, all lights and the starter turns if jumped but, still no start. The dealership is out of ideas. Help!

Not familiar with that particular tractor, but should not be that difficult to diagnose.

You say the dealer has actually looked at it and has given up? Or are they trying to diagnose over the phone?

Typically, there is a start circuit that actuates the solenoid coil that pulls in the starter contacts.

There will be at least one safety switch, a neutral safety switch, possibly others, as in clutch switch, PTO off switch, seat switch, maybe others. Usually this is a simple series of switches, sometimes there is a circuit board involved, but the end result is, when everything is satisfied it is safe to start, the signal is delivered to the solenoid, and the starter engages.

Usually, armed with a test light or volt meter, it is a matter of tracing the circuit, seeing where you have power and where you don't. If you trace power all the way to the solenoid energize terminal, and it still won't pull in the starter, it can be caused by voltage drop through the circuit. In that case, an auxiliary relay can be added near the starter to boost voltage to the solenoid coil.
