4020 battery box options

Looking for suggestions (preferably pics) for mounting batteries on a 4020 restoration project. I'm using the bigger batteries so the factory boxes won't work for me. I had built a tray for mounting on the frame rail but it doesn't look right.

I'm wondering if the step/battery box from a 4430 would work.

Any reason for not just going with the right batteries? First time you have to replace the wrong ones you might be wishing you'd just gone with original in the first place.
 
Perhaps you might consider building some trays and tops, similar to the 4320? I recall in some literature the 4000 had these, too. I recall something about these "open battery" brackets were just some of the "cost saving" measures for the 4000. Not sure if these were on the 4020's for 1969 through 1972.
 
I'm considering the same option for one of our 4020's. The original batteries are garbage, going to use 2 new group 31's and thought 30 or 40 series boxes/steps might work.

anyone have any pictures of something equipped like this?
