WD-40 is a water displacement formula and it took them 40 tries to get it right and it does little to nothing as to free things up

Right. WD40 is not a penetrant nor a lubricant. The U.S. Navy initiated the formula to disperse water from the ignition systems on small boats. It was the 40th formula tested, and it was called a "Water Dispersant". Hence, WD40.

There are other products designed to be penetrants that are far better. I used to sell JB chemicals, and I'd say JB80 is about the best on the market, but they've also just about priced themselves out of the market. I used to do demos, and with a viscosity tester I could make WD40 look like tap water by comparison.

WD40 has its uses, and I use it all the time, but it's not much of a penetrant.
