Massey Ferguson model 202 front loader hydraulic pump

The front hyd lift pump and the front crank output shaft on my old tractor have had some "modifications" in its past life and recently came apart. I think that I have the correct shaft and hub installed now (shaft w/LH thread), but now I am trying to figure out how the pump was originally attached. The pump is a Vickers vane pump with a keyed 2.5" shaft. It looks like the pump should mate up flush with the tractor, but it's about 1.25" away when installed. Can I just install spacers on the pump and call it good, or should this sit flush? Does the pump mount direct to output shaft or should there be a coupler of some sort in between the two shafts?
Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

If the pump is driven with a direct shaft, the only mount you want is something to stop the pump from spinning, and let the pump float on the shaft.

If you want the pump mounted solid, there needs to be a flex coupling.

A coupling can only allow so much misalignment though. If there is any movement between the engine and mount, best to go with the floating mount. At the same time, the floating mount needs a shaft that runs true with minimal runout.
