OK, not only am I new to this forum, I'm also new to owning a Cat. Recently I purchased a 941b to clear some shooting lanes on a deer lease and to dig out a
creek bed on a small ranch. The guy I purchased the traxcavator from told me to use hydrolic fluid for the hydrolics, Hy/Trans fluid for the transmission and
steering, and Delco 15/40 for the engine. However, I called a mechanic out to evaluate the machine due to a weakness in the bucket cylinders. While talking to
me, he suggested that I use the Delco 15/40 not only for the engine, but for the hydrolics, the steering, and the transmission. He said on the older machines,
this is done all the time.
As I said, I'm new to owning a Cat, so this being something I've never heard of, isn't much of a surprise. But what about the rest of you? Have y'all ever heard
of doing this?
