Fluids for CAT 941b

OK, not only am I new to this forum, I'm also new to owning a Cat. Recently I purchased a 941b to clear some shooting lanes on a deer lease and to dig out a
creek bed on a small ranch. The guy I purchased the traxcavator from told me to use hydrolic fluid for the hydrolics, Hy/Trans fluid for the transmission and
steering, and Delco 15/40 for the engine. However, I called a mechanic out to evaluate the machine due to a weakness in the bucket cylinders. While talking to
me, he suggested that I use the Delco 15/40 not only for the engine, but for the hydrolics, the steering, and the transmission. He said on the older machines,
this is done all the time.

As I said, I'm new to owning a Cat, so this being something I've never heard of, isn't much of a surprise. But what about the rest of you? Have y'all ever heard
of doing this?

I have had 4 Cat 941 traxcavators, great machines in my opinion. For average temperatures the manuals recommend HD 30W oil for engine, transmission and bevel gear case. In the hydraulics you can use engine oils if you like, in moderate climate where I ran these machines I used Hydraulic 68 most of the time. You can certainly go with 15W 40 in everything as the mechanic said. Back in the day these machines were made 15W 40 was not as common as it is now.
