i bought a case 1070 2 weeks ago. all fluids good no burnt oil smell drove for 2 hours ,before I decided to buy this old tractor.looked at like 15 tractors before I decided to buy this one. for its age looks great sounds great no serious leaks if at all ran perfect started every time checked over 10 x. Drove it home going in 4 gear powershift fine drove 40 miles cut 100 acres. lost power compleatly just shut down just what I need in the field stuck! checked battery good ,checked alternator bad replaced then still same problem wanted to know if the wiring is old?The way it was connected made 0 sense ! I connected to my truck no alternator, stays on but no power bogs down and dies when reved at higher rpms.... Help anyone touch these or know wtf I'm experiencing removed air filter looks dirty but nothing I've not seen before nothing crazy. was low on hydraulic fluid no history guy said he bought off his dead neighbor Looks well maintained meter says 1500 hours on it.meter looks like it still works I don't think that's the original hours but I would not know. fuel filters don't look very old have not a a chance to replace yet nobody in Colorado has parts available for case farmer side only construction side. looks like one injector has a small leak I mean tiny drop every 20 min if that any help would be great prob lost my hay cuz of this fun times.

You say filters, and I have never heard of a gas 1070 so it must be a diesel. Older diesels don't need any elec. to run. To stop your 1070 you pull a shut-off right? So your problem is fuel. Pick up some new filters to put on it. Shut the fuel off at the tank then remove the filters. Then turn the fuel back on at the tank and catch the fuel in a bucket. See if it runs out a pint within two minutes. If it doesn't you have an obstruction in the line before it. If it runs well, post back for the next step.

I stand corrected I have a horrible habit of saying gas. yes I mean diesel. Is there a Shut off gas valve near the gas tank ? Yes there is a shut off lever.where is the shut off valve located? no manual yet and not sure which one to get found 3 DIFFERNT manuels

Was the tractor under a heavy load when it lost power? Who knows how old the fuel is, or how much debris, water and algae are floating around in the tank of a 40 to 47 year old tractor. New fuel filters and maybe draining the fuel tank should help. Have a second set of replacement filters handy.

As others have said it sounds like you have a fuel issue.

You said you have access to Case construction equipment parts.
My Case W26B wheel loader uses the same fuel filters as my 1070 does.

Unless someone has installed an electric fuel lift pump on your 1070 it does not require battery voltage once it is running.

Same issue on old 1070 I bought last winter. I drained tank (sump drain and shutoff valve located under tank above hyd pump and remotes), removed the tank, flushed it out through the sending unit port. Then put new sending unit, reinstalled and put a new shutoff valve and sump drain hardware.

While tank was out, I disconnected fuel line from injector pump, blew it out with a compressor, then put in new filters, new sediment bowl/screen and a new primer pump (the old one was shot). With 15 gallons of diesel in the tank, primed the filters and she fired right up.

Now she runs really well for 44 years old.

(quoted from post at 19:04:33 10/02/17) Where is the sediment bowl located ? Primer pump? Is removing diesel tank tuff ?

Get a service manual (YT has them here: http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/CAS970TM_1887.htm), and a parts catalog (also here: http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/CAP1070_1889.htm. They are a huge head start to getting anything done along with this forum (which you are already there). The parts catalog helps me get the lay of the land for things like asking about.

Sediment bowl and primer pump are on the injector pump (left front of engine) forward of the two spin-on fuel filters.

Removing the tank isn't tough - tedious is a better word. Remove seat, then the tank cover that protects the front and top of the tank. It's bolted to the two fenders, easy to get to. Then the strap assembly which holds the tank in place. It was nearly empty and just lifted out once all the plumbing was removed.

SHOWCROP You suggested that I remove filters shut off valve near gas tank did that almost no diesel came out when i pulled that second filter off the one with screw ton of black crap poured out I could not figure out which way was on of off because it was at a drip pace both ways it must be clogged so gonna remove line from gas tank to first diesel filter after second filter look like it was changed in past hope that's the problem thx u for all responses HUGE HELP GOD BLESS EVERYONE

Still the same problem. Crap in the tank has plugged your filters
